Materials & Craftsmanship

California Heirloom Design

Leisure Society was founded on the principle of California Heirloom Design: creating objects with the intention that they will endure for generations.

Rather than following seasonal trends, we focus on timeless design, exceptional materials, and uncompromising craftsmanship. Every frame is individually numbered, backed by a lifetime warranty, and built to become a lasting companion rather than a disposable accessory.

Our goal is simple: to create eyewear worthy of being passed from one generation to the next.

Japanese Craftsmanship

Japan has long been recognized as the global leader in premium eyewear manufacturing.

Every Leisure Society frame is handcrafted by master artisans whose expertise has been refined through generations of precision manufacturing. Many components undergo extensive CNC machining, hand soldering, polishing, engraving, assembly, and multiple quality inspections before a frame is considered complete.

This commitment to craftsmanship allows us to produce eyewear with exceptional precision, consistency, and longevity.

The Meaning Behind the Key

Every Leisure Society frame is engraved with a small key.

More than a design element, it serves as a reminder that success is measured not only by achievement, but by the moments shared with family and friends.

It represents "The Key to Life": the pursuit of a life filled with meaning, curiosity, and genuine leisure, spent with the people who matter most.

Why Block Titanium?

Titanium is widely regarded as one of the most advanced materials used in luxury eyewear. Its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio allows frames to remain remarkably lightweight while maintaining outstanding structural integrity. Unlike conventional metals, titanium is naturally corrosion resistant, hypoallergenic, and highly durable, making it an ideal material for eyewear intended to be worn comfortably for years.

Leisure Society frames are machined from solid block titanium rather than stamped sheet metal. Beginning with a solid billet allows our craftsmen to sculpt deeper bevels, sharper architectural lines, and more dimensional forms while preserving that same structural integrity. Although significantly more time-intensive than traditional manufacturing methods, block titanium provides greater design freedom and produces a frame with remarkable precision, durability, and visual depth, crafted from 100% pure titanium, selected for its performance, longevity, and refined appearance.

Why Gold Ion Plating?

Leisure Society frames are finished using 12k White Gold, 18k Gold, 24k Gold, or Ruthenium Ion Plating.

Unlike conventional electroplating, our jewelry-grade Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process creates a finish that bonds directly to the titanium surface.

This advanced process offers:

  • Exceptional adhesion and durability
  • Greater resistance to corrosion and everyday wear
  • A more consistent and uniform finish
  • An environmentally conscious manufacturing process that avoids many traditional plating chemicals

PVD plating is widely recognized as one of the highest quality finishing methods available for luxury metal products.

Why Limited Production?

We believe exceptional craftsmanship cannot be rushed.

Many Leisure Society frames require more than six hours of precision CNC machining before they are assembled and hand-finished by skilled artisans.

As a result, production remains intentionally limited, allowing every frame to receive the attention to detail that defines our collection.

Every frame is individually serialized, reflecting its place within a limited production run.

What is The Vault?

The Vault is Leisure Society's archive of retired, one-of-a-kind, and historically significant frames. These include discontinued styles, rare colorations, prototype pieces, special editions, and the final remaining examples from limited production runs.

Once a design enters The Vault, it is no longer part of our regular collection and, in most cases, will never be produced again.

Because every Leisure Society frame is individually serialized and produced in limited quantities, these pieces represent important moments in the brand's history and are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Whether preserving one of our earliest creations or offering a singular one-off piece, The Vault reflects our belief that exceptional design deserves to endure beyond a single season.
